The Same Day Edit (Batch 20)
March 19-20, 2020 I 10AM - 6PM
2 day advance video editing course
"For a lot of people, producing a same-day edit at a wedding reception is a regular thing, and something that is second nature after years of repetition. But for others who find just shooting a wedding to be stressful enough, producing a polished edit to show to a live audience that same evening seems like an impossible task.
The biggest hurdle in producing a same-day edit (SDE) is doing your first one. In the Philippines, an SDE is de facto.
It’s understood that if you get a videographer, you get at least two-camera coverage, you get a final video, and you get a same-day edit. So it’s practically a necessity that if you go into our business in the Philippines, you’ll need to conquer your fears of SDE production to meet your clients’ expectations as set by the wedding market here.
It’s not impossible to do an SDE, although it may appear so if you’ve never done one. You just have to get over the first hurdle of fear and then equip yourself and your crew to do it effectively.
The main enemy of SDE production is time. Every minute you can save yourself in your workflow will help you edit a better film."

Even if it may be the shooter's fault that some shots we get are unstable, out of focus or downright unacceptable, if we include those in the edit, it's ultimately our fault and responsibility for choosing the clips the way we do
During one past batch, we were lucky to have guest panelists with our USA-based Wedding Filmmaker friends Noel Dasmariñas and Sigmund Reboquio, who dished out awesome editing advice.
Shane -- fresh off the Mastering Adobe Premiere Pro course, (not to mention our youngest and only female SDEditor in this batch) successfully completes her SDE.
The Same Day Edit is a staple in almost all wedding video packages in the Philippines. Practically every studio offers this as part of their professional services. This 2-day course combines the best practices of working SDE editors and wedding videographers in an action-packed session.
Secrets in workflow efficiency will be shared as well as short cuts and techniques to produce films in lightning speed without sacrificing quality. Song selections and sound editing will also be discussed.
Actual time constraints of the wedding day will be simulated so that students will feel the same nerve-wracking pressure of producing a wedding SDE. The students will be provided with real clips from actual weddings.
These clips will be timed to simulate the arrival of materials as if the students are in a real wedding scenario.
